Bridge

Bridge with my uncle, grandmom, and mother
(my mom is the dummy)

I have been playing bridge since I was 6 years old. My mother is a bridge fanatic, so she insisted I learn the game early. In fact, the reason she was conceived is that my grandparents needed a fourth for bridge. Whenever my grandmother visits, we (my grandmother, my mother, my brother, and I) play bridge pretty much the whole visit. My Uncle Carl also plays.

Mainly the game I play is chicago bridge, except that we play with the dealing side vulnerable in hands 2 and 3, which differs from the "modern" rules explained on the website the link is to. Usually we play 4 hands with each combination of partners (12 hands total). The person with the highest number of points at the end is the winner.

3 handed rubber bridge, rubber bridge in general, and honeymoon bridge (2 person bridge) are not games I like very much, but I play them on occasion to humor my mom. Sometimes I play duplicate bridge, which eliminates a lot of the randomness of the dealing of the cards.
